STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut’s Class of 2025 graduated this spring after four years shaped by institutional change, pandemic-era recovery, and demographic milestones, according to UConn.
The cohort arrived on campus in fall 2021 as the university and the country emerged from COVID-19 disruptions.
According to UConn, they entered as the most diverse incoming class in the institution’s history.
The class witnessed several high-profile developments. UConn stated that their four-year span included the installation of a new university president, the construction and opening of three new facilities—Science 1, Connecticut Hall, and the Toscano Family Ice Forum—and the receipt of the largest philanthropic gift in the university’s record.
UConn also confirmed that the same period produced two consecutive fundraising records for HuskyTHON, the university’s student-led philanthropic event.
Athletic benchmarks were also reached. UConn’s men’s basketball team secured back-to-back national titles during the class’s tenure. The women’s basketball program won its twelfth NCAA championship.
Students in the Class of 2025 pursued a variety of academic and extracurricular roles. According to UConn, the cohort included “scholars, entrepreneurs, activists, and mentors.” Members of the class participated in research, leadership programs, community service, and professional development across the university’s campuses.
Ceremonies for the class were held across UConn’s regional and main campuses, including Storrs, Hartford, Stamford, Avery Point, Waterbury, and Farmington. Graduates came from across Connecticut, the United States, and international locations, according to UConn.
UConn stated that many of the graduates began their higher education during a period of uncertainty and have now completed degrees that reflect not only academic progress but the university’s broader post-pandemic transition.
“When you look back, it won’t be on what you missed four years ago, but on everything you’ve gained in the four years since,” the university said in its graduation message.
The graduates are expected to enter a wide range of fields, including public service, art, business, graduate study, the military, and professional athletics.
The university concluded its announcement with a reference to its alumni motto: “Yesterday, today, tomorrow: Huskies Forever.”
