STORRS, CT — UConn men’s golf continues its strategic roster build with the addition of Kai-Jun Huang, a transfer from Merrimack College, for the 2025-26 season.
Head coach Dave Pezzino confirmed the move this week, citing Huang’s international experience and consistent scoring as key assets for the Huskies.
“Kai Jun is a great addition to our program,” Pezzino said. “He’s a strong student-athlete and plays an elite international schedule. I’m confident he’ll be a great fit here in Storrs.”
Huang, a native of Taipei, Taiwan, completed his freshman campaign with standout performances across the collegiate circuit.
He tied for medalist honors at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational and secured a fifth-place finish at the 2025 MAAC Championship, competing among a 65-player field.
Across 10 tournaments during the 2024-25 season, Huang delivered six top-10 finishes, including four in the top five. He placed inside the top 20 in eight of Merrimack’s 10 events and finished with a 75.1 stroke average over 24 rounds.
In addition to his collegiate success, Huang represented the 2024 Chinese Taipei National Team and holds a World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 624. His international resume includes six tournament victories and 21 top-10 placements.
Huang arrives at UConn with three years of eligibility remaining and is expected to add immediate depth and global experience to the roster as the Huskies aim to advance in both conference and NCAA postseason play.
