Stamford, CT – The Stamford Police Department, working with the FBI and NYPD, has arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of multiple firearms from local storage units.

Authorities identified Joshua Casiano, 36, of the Bronx, N.Y., as the primary suspect in a case involving burglaries at two storage facilities last year.

On February 22 and February 23, officers from the Stamford Police Patrol Division responded to reports of break-ins at CubeSmart on 420 Shippan Avenue and Extra Space Storage on 1934 W. Main Street. Investigators found storage containers forcibly entered and firearms stolen.

The Stamford Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations Property Unit led an extensive inquiry, which ultimately pinpointed Casiano as the suspect.

A collaborative effort between Stamford detectives, the FBI, and NYPD led to his apprehension in New York City.

Authorities executed a search warrant at his Bronx residence, recovering several stolen handguns and other evidence linking him to the burglaries.

On March 3, Casiano was extradited to Connecticut to face multiple felony charges. Stamford Superior Court set his bond at $1 million. The charges include larceny, burglary, conspiracy to commit larceny, and 47 counts of theft of a firearm.

The Stamford Police Department acknowledged the efforts of all involved agencies.

“Anyone with additional information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Stamford Police Property Crimes Unit Sgt. Rosa 203-977-5828,” officials said.

For further inquiries, Stamford Police provided contact information for Captain Thomas Scanlon and Lieutenant Douglas Deiso at ddeiso@stamfordct.gov or 203-977-4060.
