Coventry, CT – Police in Coventry are urging residents to stay vigilant after discovering hazardous tire spikes on local roads. Authorities have received multiple reports of the spikes being placed near driveways and intersections, posing significant risks to drivers and vehicles.

The Coventry Police Department issued a public advisory warning motorists to be cautious and inspect their surroundings before driving. According to officials, the spikes, which are designed to puncture tires, could lead to dangerous situations, especially at high speeds.

“We are actively investigating these incidents and urge anyone who notices suspicious activity or finds tire spikes to report them immediately,”

Coventry Police said in a statement.

Community Safety Concerns

The presence of these spikes has raised concerns among local residents. Many worry about the potential for vehicle damage, accidents, and increased safety hazards on roadways.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the metal spikes near my driveway … It’s really alarming to think that someone is doing this intentionally.”

said Coventry resident Mark Thompson.

Authorities are working to determine whether the placement of the spikes is an act of vandalism or something more serious. They are also reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses to identify potential suspects.

How Residents Can Help

Coventry police are urging residents to take the following precautions:

  • Inspect driveways and roadways before driving.
  • Avoid handling spikes directly and instead report findings to authorities.
  • If possible, provide any surveillance footage or witness statements to help with the investigation.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with information to contact the Coventry Police Department at (860) 742-7331.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are committed to ensuring the safety of all drivers in the community.
