Meriden, CT – A North Haven man has been arrested in connection with a crash that injured a Connecticut State Police trooper on Interstate 91 Northbound in February.

On February 14, 2025, at approximately 7:29 PM, a Connecticut State Police cruiser was parked on the right shoulder before Exit 16, assisting a disabled motorist.

The cruiser’s emergency lights were activated when a vehicle veered out of its lane, entered the right shoulder, and struck the rear bumper of the cruiser.

The trooper sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Sean Brozek (DOB 04/21/1994), of North Haven. He suffered minor injuries and was also transported for medical assessment.

Following an investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant from Meriden Superior Court. On March 17, 2025, troopers located Brozek and arrested him without incident. He was taken to Troop I for processing and charged with the following offenses:

• Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)

• Failure to Maintain Lane (C.G.S. 14-236)

• Following Too Closely Resulting in an Accident (C.G.S. 14-240(b))

• Failure to Move Over for an Emergency Vehicle (C.G.S. 14-283b(b)(1))

• Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Handheld Device (C.G.S. 14-aa(b1st))

Brozek was released on a $5,000 court-set bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on March 28, 2025.
