New Britain, CT – January 13, 2025— AK Auto Sales and Repair in New Britain became the target of a brazen theft overnight, as tires and rims were stolen from three vehicles on the dealership’s lot. The incident has left both the business owner and local community members concerned about rising property crimes in the area.

The theft was discovered early Monday morning by employees opening the shop for the day.

“It’s a shock and a setback for our business.”

said Ahmed Khan

The owner of AK Auto Sales and Repair. “These tires and rims represent a significant loss, not just in monetary value but also in trust and security for our operations.”

According to New Britain Police, the perpetrators targeted vehicles parked toward the back of the lot. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed to identify suspects. Initial estimates suggest the stolen items are worth several thousand dollars.

This incident adds to growing concerns among local business owners about theft and vandalism. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward and have increased patrols in the area to deter further crimes.

Community members have expressed frustration and sympathy for the auto shop. “This is just heartbreaking. Businesses like this are the backbone of our community,” said Maria Lopez, a New Britain resident and frequent customer of AK Auto Sales and Repair.

AK Auto Sales and Repair is planning to enhance its security measures, including additional cameras and improved lighting, to prevent future incidents. The New Britain Police Department is encouraging all business owners to do the same.

Anyone with information related to this theft is urged to contact the New Britain Police Department at (860) 826-3000.
