BRIDGEPORT, CT — A Bridgeport shooting suspect has been formally charged in the 2020 killing of 21-year-old Nyair Nixon at the Keystone social club, a venue formerly managed by City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez.
Quinten “Quack” McKoy, 33, was arraigned Friday and faces charges of murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit. Already serving prison time on unrelated gun charges, McKoy’s bail was set at $2.5 million, with $750,000 required in cash for release.
The fatal shooting occurred in the early hours of September 27, 2020, during an altercation at the Keystone club on Barnum Avenue. Nixon was shot multiple times and later collapsed at the nearby intersection of Barnum and Bishop avenues. He was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
McKoy’s arrest follows revelations presented during the recent trial of Charles Young, a co-defendant in the case. A defense expert enhanced a previously grainy cellphone video, identifying McKoy as the shooter. Testimony from Rajonne “Ray Ray” Blake, another individual present that night, corroborated the video analysis, stating that McKoy fired the fatal shots and was driven to New York afterward by Young.
Councilwoman Martinez, who managed the Keystone club at the time, initially denied the shooting took place inside the venue. However, during questioning, she admitted she could not be certain due to the loud music and chaotic atmosphere. The club was later cited for violating pandemic restrictions.
The Bridgeport shooting suspect will now face proceedings at the Bridgeport Judicial District Courthouse as the investigation continues to unfold. Authorities believe the new evidence could lead to a conviction and bring closure to Nixon’s family.
