MIDDLETOWN, CT— The Connecticut State Police marked the end of its Spring 2025 internship program, wrapping up several months of hands-on training and department immersion for a group of student interns.

The program brought interns into day-to-day operations across various units. Each student completed tasks tied directly to department activity.

Ride-alongs gave them street-level exposure. Unit visits revealed how investigations and patrols are managed. The department described the experience as “practical” and “immersive.”

“Our internship program is designed not only to provide students with a practical understanding of the daily operations of the Connecticut State Police but also to serve as a vital recruiting tool,” the department stated.

Interns shadowed officers. They observed calls. They handled support work. All activities were monitored by staff. Supervisors guided them through protocols and procedures.

“This immersive experience has allowed them to witness the commitment, integrity, and teamwork that define our agency,” the department added.

The program is part of a broader effort to identify future recruits. Interns connected with troopers and learned what law enforcement work looks like on the ground. The program emphasized exposure over theory.

“The internship program not only equips participants with practical skills and knowledge but also highlights the values and community engagement that are central to our mission,” the department said.

Applications for future internships are open. Details can be found at www.beaconnecticuttrooper.com.
