East Hartford, CT – Authorities are investigating after a golden retriever was found dead inside a garbage can behind an abandoned Stop & Shop in East Hartford on Tuesday, according to East Hartford Animal Control.
Officials said the dog, an older male, had been placed in a garbage bag before being discarded in the bin at 940 Silver Lane. Investigators are seeking information to identify the owner.
BuzzKue will not release photos of the dog due to their disturbing nature but the officials have posted them on the East Hartford Animal Control Facebook page.
Desmond’s Army Animal Law Advocates is assisting with securing a necropsy to determine how the dog died, officials said.
