NORWICH, Conn. — A Griswold woman was arrested early Saturday after allegedly driving the wrong way at high speed on Interstate 395 and attempting to flee into a state police barracks, authorities said.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on March 22, 2025, Troop E dispatch began receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes near Exit 11 in Norwich.
Troopers intercepted the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan near the Troop E barracks in Montville.
As they moved to stop it, the driver turned into the station parking lot in an apparent attempt to evade. Troopers used cruiser intervention to prevent the vehicle from returning to the highway.
The driver, identified as Cailin Sorder (DOB 01/15/1991), failed to comply with verbal commands and was physically removed. She showed signs of intoxication and was arrested without reported injuries.
Sorder was charged under C.G.S. 14-227a for Operating Under the Influence, C.G.S. 14-237 for Driving the Wrong Way on a Limited Access Highway, C.G.S. 14-223(b) for Engaging Police in Pursuit, C.G.S. 53a-167a for Interfering with an Officer, and C.G.S. 53a-63 for Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
She was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on March 24, 2025.
Troopers obtained dash camera footage from a motorist nearly struck on I-395 and cruiser footage of the stop in the Troop E lot.
