Groton Police Investigate Armed Bank Robbery at M&T Bank

Groton police are investigating an armed robbery at M&T Bank on Long Hill Road. The suspect fled, and authorities are seeking public assistance.

Groton, CT – Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred Wednesday, March 5, at the M&T Bank located at 654 Long Hill Road.

The suspect, armed with a handgun, fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

At approximately 3:12 p.m. on March 5, the Groton Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of the robbery.

Responding officers and detectives arrived swiftly to secure the area and begin their investigation.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the suspect or the getaway vehicle.

The department confirmed that the suspect displayed a firearm during the robbery, but no injuries have been reported.

Investigators are working to gather evidence and review security footage from the bank and surrounding businesses.

The Groton Police Department urged the public to assist in the ongoing investigation.

“Anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have observed this incident is encouraged to contact the Groton Police Department at 860-441-6712,” the department stated.

Police have not disclosed the amount of money taken or whether the suspect acted alone. As officers continue to process the scene, they are asking local businesses and residents to remain vigilant.

This remains an active investigation, and officials are expected to release additional details as they become available.
