Jon Landau, the acclaimed producer behind some of Hollywood’s highest-grossing films such as “Titanic” and “Avatar,” has passed away at the age of 63. Landau, who had been battling cancer for over a year, died on Friday, July 5, 2024. His sister, Tina, confirmed the news on social media, expressing both her grief and pride in his extraordinary life and career.

Landau was a long-time producing partner of director James Cameron. Their collaboration resulted in cinematic milestones, with “Titanic” becoming the first film to surpass $1 billion in global box office sales. Born to Hollywood producers Ely and Edie Landau on July 23, 1960, Jon Landau began his career as an executive at 20th Century Fox. There, he oversaw popular films such as “The Last of the Mohicans” and “Die Hard 2.” Landau later co-produced other notable movies, including “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” and “Dick Tracy,” before joining Cameron’s production company, Lightstorm Entertainment.
