NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven woman found dead early Friday morning in Edgewood Park has prompted an active police investigation, drawing attention across the city. According to the New Haven Police Department, the woman, believed to be in her late 30s, was discovered near the park’s main roadway around 8 a.m. on May 30, 2025.

Police stated there were no visible signs of trauma, and the incident has been classified as a “sudden death.” The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity, pending notification of next of kin.

A large section of Edgewood Park, including the skate park near Whalley Avenue and Fitch Street, was cordoned off as investigators gathered evidence and spoke with potential witnesses. This high-profile case involving a New Haven woman found dead comes amid rising public concern, following other recent discoveries of human remains across Connecticut, though police have emphasized there’s currently no evidence linking the cases.
