ORANGE, CT — The state Department of Consumer Protection has suspended the liquor permit of Top Quality Vibez Bar and Grill following a string of violent incidents and what officials described as deliberate attempts by staff to obstruct investigations.
The Boston Post Road establishment is closed effective immediately.
DCP officials cited multiple fights and a Feb. 7 shooting in which a male patron was shot multiple times by a security guard following a physical altercation inside the bar.
Police said management denied knowledge of any incident that night despite witness statements and evidence proving otherwise.
In a letter to the DCP, Orange Police Chief Robert Gagne stated that staff and management attempted to conceal the incident, allegedly cleaning up the scene and engaging in efforts to shield the shooter from identification and prosecution.
Police also cited additional disturbances at the bar in recent months. Gagne said the pattern of behavior at the establishment endangered public safety and warranted immediate action.
The DCP stated that the premises had been operated with “reckless and indifferent” conduct and “disregard to the safety of its patrons and surrounding community.”
No reopening date has been set, and the liquor permit remains suspended while further regulatory and law enforcement reviews continue.
