WATERTOWN, CT — Two people were found dead inside a home on Pleasantview Avenue in the Oakville section of Watertown early Friday morning after firefighters extinguished a blaze that had fully engulfed the structure.
Fire crews responded just before 4:00 a.m. and encountered a single-family residence with heavy flames and a collapsed roof. Due to the extent of the fire, firefighters launched an exterior attack before entering the structure.
Once the fire was under control, crews located two deceased individuals inside the home.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. Local and state fire marshals are working alongside the Watertown Police Department and the Waterbury State’s Attorney’s Office.
