NEW HAVEN, CT — A tragic New Haven car crash early Saturday morning claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman after her vehicle struck a tree following a speed bump on Shelton Avenue. The incident occurred around 1:51 a.m. near Gibbs Street, prompting an immediate emergency response from city authorities.

According to the New Haven Police Department, the woman was driving southbound on Shelton Avenue when her car went over a speed bump, causing it to veer left and crash into a tree. Emergency responders transported her to Yale New Haven Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not been publicly released, though next of kin have been notified.

The city’s Crash Reconstruction Team is actively investigating the crash. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact their traffic division.
