On May 25, 2024, a body was recovered from the Connecticut River, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities. The discovery was made in the early hours, leading to a swift response from police and emergency services.

According to the Connecticut State Police, the body was spotted by a passerby near the riverbank at approximately 7:30 AM. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, where they confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, as authorities are working to notify next of kin. The cause of death is also under investigation, with an autopsy scheduled to determine further details.

“We are treating this as a suspicious death until proven otherwise,” stated Lieutenant John Harris of the Connecticut State Police. “Our priority is to gather all available evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.”

The discovery has shocked the local community, with many residents expressing concern over the safety of the area. Local businesses and residents are cooperating with the investigation, providing any information that might assist the authorities.

In response to the incident, the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection has issued a statement urging residents to be vigilant while near bodies of water. They have also increased patrols in the area to ensure public safety.

This incident follows a series of water-related accidents in the region, prompting calls for improved safety measures along the Connecticut River. Last summer, two individuals were reported missing and later found drowned in the same river, highlighting ongoing concerns about water safety.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They have set up a dedicated hotline for tips and are encouraging witnesses to assist in the investigation.

For more updates on this developing story, stay tuned to local news outlets and official announcements from the Connecticut State Police.
