Danbury, CT – Danbury has been ranked the ninth most diverse city in the United States, according to a study released by WalletHub this week.

The annual report assessed more than 500 cities, and placed Danbury among major metropolitan areas such as Houston, New York, and Los Angeles.

Mayor Roberto Alves confirmed the ranking, citing it as a reflection of Danbury’s economic and cultural landscape.

The WalletHub study measured diversity across five categories: economic, socioeconomic, cultural, religious, and household composition. It examined factors such as language diversity, birthplace, job sectors, and household structures.

Danbury has consistently been recognized for its diverse population, shaped by decades of immigration and economic shifts.

The city’s workforce includes professionals, entrepreneurs, and laborers from various backgrounds, contributing to industries ranging from healthcare to construction.

Immigrant-owned businesses have expanded throughout the city, strengthening local commerce and job growth.

According to WalletHub’s findings, diversity fosters economic mobility and social resilience. Cities ranking high on the list often see broader cultural exchange, increased business innovation, and a more adaptive workforce.

Danbury’s demographic mix reflects this trend, with multilingual communities and a workforce spanning multiple industries.

Alves said the recognition underscores the city’s strength.

Over the years, Danbury has embraced its multicultural identity, with community events, local businesses, and public initiatives reflecting its diverse population.

The city’s ability to integrate different backgrounds has been a key factor in its sustained ranking among the most diverse in the country.
