GRAND STREET, CT — Firefighters responded to a two-story apartment building on Grand Street Sunday night after a blaze was reported in the ceiling of a first-floor bathroom.
Crews arrived at approximately 10:40 p.m. and located active fire burning inside a wall and in the ceiling between the first and second floors.
According to fire officials, the fire was brought under control in about 35 minutes. Two first-floor apartments sustained smoke and fire damage during the incident.
Firefighters were able to remove several pets from the affected units. One firefighter sustained a minor injury while rescuing a pet from the apartment where the fire originated.
No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
