On May 26, 2024, renowned rapper Nicki Minaj faced an unexpected legal issue at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The 41-year-old artist was briefly detained by airport authorities for alleged possession of marijuana, which resulted in significant disruptions to her ongoing “Pink Friday 2 World Tour.”

Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, was reportedly traveling from Amsterdam to Manchester for a scheduled concert at the Co-op Arena when the incident occurred. According to reports, airport security found a small amount of marijuana in her luggage during a routine check.

Minaj live-streamed parts of her interaction with the authorities, expressing her frustration and confusion over the situation. She was taken into custody but was released shortly after paying a fine. The exact amount of the fine has not been disclosed. This detainment led to the abrupt cancellation of her Manchester concert, disappointing thousands of fans who had already gathered at the venue.

Following her release, Minaj took to social media to address the incident. On May 26, 2024, she apologized to her fans for the inconvenience and promised to reschedule the concert, offering an added surprise bonus for those affected. In her posts, Minaj stated, “I am deeply sorry to all my fans in Manchester for the sudden cancellation. I assure you, we’ll make it up to you with a special performance very soon.”

Despite the incident, Minaj appeared in high spirits upon her arrival in Manchester. She was spotted wearing a hot pink Fendi puffer jacket and matching Louis Vuitton beanie, accessorized with white-trimmed sunglasses. Her ensemble was a statement of resilience and style, embodying her public persona as a bold and unyielding figure in the music industry.

Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2 World Tour” continues to generate buzz and excitement among her global fanbase. The tour, which began on March 1, 2024, in Oakland, California, spans multiple cities across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Despite the setback in Amsterdam, Minaj is expected to resume her tour without further delays.

The next scheduled performance is set for May 28, 2024, at the O2 Arena in London. Fans and concert-goers are hopeful that this incident will be a one-time disruption and that the remainder of the tour will proceed smoothly.
