Shogun Leads the 2024 Emmy Nominations with 25 Nods The Bear Close Behind With 23

In a highly anticipated announcement, the 2024 Emmy nominations were revealed on Wednesday morning, July 17, with FX’s Shogun leading the pack with an impressive 25 nominations. The historical drama set several records, including a nod for Best Drama Series. This year’s nominations were announced live from the El Capitan Theatre by Emmy winners Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and streamed on Emmys.com.

The Bear from FX also made a significant impact, setting a comedy series record with 23 nominations. Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building followed closely with 21 nominations, while HBO/Max’s True Detective: Night Country secured 19, and Netflix’s The Crown garnered 18 nominations.

The 2024 Emmy Awards nominations showcase a competitive landscape among top networks. Netflix leads with an impressive 107 nominations across 35 programs. FX follows with 93 nominations from nine programs, and HBO comes in third with 91 nominations across 29 programs. Apple TV+ has garnered 72 nominations from 16 programs. Meanwhile, The Walt Disney Co. shines brightly with a total of 183 nominations spanning FX, ABC, Hulu, and Disney+, underscoring its dominance in the television industry.

Kali Reis and Lily Gladstone became the first indigenous women to receive Emmy acting nominations while D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai from Reservation Dogs became the first indigenous actor to be recognized for lead with his best actor in a comedy nomination. Netflix continues to dominate with 107 nominations, showcasing its diverse and strong programming. FX also solidified its position as a powerhouse, with both Shogun and The Bear leading in their respective categories.
