15-Year-Old Fatally Shot in New Haven, Police Investigating

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon in New Haven near Greenwood Street. Police are investigating.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in the city’s Hill neighborhood, according to New Haven police.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire on Greenwood Street near Legion Avenue at approximately 3:15 p.m. Upon arrival, police located the teen suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was a New Haven resident and, according to investigators, was homeschooled. Police said he was known to law enforcement, but no further details about his identity have been released pending notification of his family.

Investigators remained on scene into the evening, canvassing the area for surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or confirmed if multiple individuals were involved in the shooting.

As of now, the case remains in its early stages. Police said it is too soon to determine a motive or whether the incident was targeted.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is urged to contact New Haven police.
