Storrs, CT — The University of Connecticut has set a new admissions record, receiving more than 62,000 applications for the Class of 2029, surpassing last year’s 58,000. The surge highlights UConn’s growing reputation for academic quality and value.

Admissions decisions for the Storrs campus have already begun rolling out, while applications for regional campuses in Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, and Waterbury continue to arrive.

Interest in UConn has soared, with first-year applications to Storrs increasing 27% over two years and regional campus applications rising 70% in the same period.

The university expects to enroll approximately 4,500 first-year students in Storrs and nearly 2,000 across regional campuses this fall.

Additionally, about 950 transfer students, including many from Connecticut’s community colleges, are anticipated to join.

UConn’s early-decision process, launched this year, received 1,500 applications, with 60% gaining admission. Most have already committed. Officials say the process benefits students and helps UConn assess demand for specific majors and campuses.

Despite national declines in college applications, UConn’s numbers continue to rise. The diverse applicant pool includes many first-generation college students.

Admissions decisions will continue in the coming weeks, with financial aid packages included for those who qualify. UConn projects an undergraduate enrollment of 26,200 students across all campuses this fall.
