STORRS, CT — The UConn baseball team (21-17) heads into back-to-back midweek matchups riding its longest win streak of the season. With eight straight victories, the Huskies face UMass Tuesday night at Dunkin’ Park in Hartford and host Army Wednesday at Elliot Ballpark.

First pitch against UMass is set for 6:35 p.m. The Army game begins at 5:05 p.m. Both contests will stream for free on UConn+. Wednesday’s game will also air on Fox Sports Radio 97.9 FM.

UConn completed a three-game sweep of Seton Hall at Elliot Ballpark over the weekend. The Huskies improved to 9-1 at home this season.

On Saturday, the Huskies ran wild on the basepaths with nine stolen bases. That total lifted their season mark to 92 steals. UConn ranks 22nd nationally in stolen bases and 18th in steals per game with 2.42.

Caleb Shpur now holds 27 stolen bases, the 13th most in the country and a new personal high. He swiped 26 bags last season.

The Huskies also rank 34th nationally in strikeouts per nine innings at 9.8. Ian Cooke and Oliver Pudvar each lead the team with 52 strikeouts. Brady Afthim has fanned 40 batters in just 25.2 innings, posting a rate of 14.29 strikeouts per nine.

Tyler Minick enters the week tied for second in the BIG EAST with 12 home runs. He also ranks second in the conference with a .684 slugging percentage.

UConn renews its oldest baseball rivalry Tuesday. The Huskies and UMass first played in 1900. UConn holds a 97-71-3 edge in the all-time series.

Wednesday’s game against Army marks the first meeting between the teams since 2005 and the first in Storrs since 1983. UConn trails the all-time series 2-7-1.

Since Dunkin’ Park opened in 2017, UConn is 10-5 in games played in Hartford.
