FARMINGTON, Conn. — UConn John Dempsey Hospital has earned a place on Newsweek’s 2025 World’s Best Hospitals list for the fourth consecutive year, climbing 103 spots since 2022 and earning national recognition for its commitment to patient care, infection prevention, and patient experience.
“Being recognized as one of the World’s Best Hospitals by Newsweek is a tremendous honor,” said Dr. Andy Agwunobi, CEO of UConn Health. “This achievement reflects our relentless pursuit of excellence.”
The hospital rose from No. 400 in 2022 to a significantly higher position in 2025, outperforming many other Connecticut institutions.
It is the only hospital in the state recognized for both Infection Prevention and Patient Experience, with the latter based on CMS HCAHPS data, including communication, responsiveness, cleanliness, and care transitions.
“We are recognized both regionally and nationally for the excellence in care we provide,” said Dr. Scott Allen, Chief Medical Officer at UConn Health.
The 2025 Newsweek rankings assessed over 2,400 hospitals across 30 countries, using physician surveys, patient-reported outcomes, hospital quality metrics, and post-hospitalization satisfaction data.
