HARTFORD, Conn. — A road rage shooting on Interstate 91 southbound near Exit 35 in Windsor led to the arrest of a New Haven man Tuesday afternoon, according to Connecticut State Police.

At approximately 4:41 p.m. on March 25, 2025, a caller reported to Troop H that they had been followed in the HOV lane by a Honda Pilot “tailgating them for a long period of time.” As the vehicles approached Exit 35, the Honda “reportedly drove up next to the driver’s side” and “threw an object out the window.”

The SUV then “struck the victim’s vehicle on the driver’s side in a sideswipe manner collision.”

Police said the male operator of the Honda “began shooting out of the passenger side window,” firing approximately four rounds. One bullet struck the victim in the left arm.

Troopers said the suspect fled but was seen shortly after exiting at Liebert Road. A brief pursuit ended in a commercial lot on Weston Street in Hartford.

Amir Wali, 23, was arrested and charged with ten offenses including Assault 1st Degree (C.G.S. 53a-59) and Criminal Possession of a Firearm (C.G.S. 53a-217).

Wali was held on a $250,000 bond and will appear in Hartford Superior Court on March 26.
