Warren, CT — A home in Warren was destroyed and more than an acre of brushland burned after a fire erupted Sunday afternoon, prompting a multi-department response across northwestern Connecticut.

At 2:12 p.m., Washington Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) dispatched Tanker-7 and Ladder-1 to assist Warren Volunteer Fire Company with a residential structure fire. Crews from Warren and seven surrounding departments fought the flames for hours.

The blaze gutted the residence and spread beyond the structure, igniting a 1.7-acre brush fire.

Fire officials confirmed that Tanker-7 was assigned to pumping operations, while Ladder-1 delivered personnel and deployed its aerial master stream to quench persistent hot spots.

A total of 50,000 gallons of water were discharged from the aerial apparatus before crews cleared the scene at 9:00 p.m.

“It was a privilege working with our brothers and sisters from Warren Volunteer Fire Company Inc, Bantam Fire Company, Kent Volunteer Fire Department, Northville Fire Department, Gaylordsville Fire Department, Litchfield Fire Department CT, and Cornwall Fire Department,” said a WVFD statement.

The house was deemed a total loss. No injuries were reported, and the fire’s cause remains under investigation by authorities.

Local fire officials extended condolences to the homeowners, whose property was reduced to ash within hours.

The surrounding forested area, now scarred by the blaze, posed additional hazards to firefighters as they worked to suppress embers late into the evening.

The investigation into the origin of the fire is ongoing.
