ROCKY HILL, CT — Connecticut State Police have arrested a 49-year-old woman who was allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill early Saturday morning.
Troopers said they received multiple 911 calls around 3:20 a.m. reporting a gray sedan traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-91.
Responding units located the vehicle traveling slowly between the right lane and the shoulder, facing the correct direction by the time they arrived.
Upon making contact, troopers observed several signs of impairment. The woman had red, glossy eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, according to police.
She agreed to undergo Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and failed them, police said.
The woman was arrested and charged with driving the wrong way on a divided highway, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain proper lane on a limited access highway, improper exit or entry from a limited access highway, failure to comply with fingerprinting requirements, and reckless endangerment.
She was released on a $20,000 bond and appeared in court on May 5.
