West Hartford, CT — A 51-year-old Andover man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly driving the wrong way, abandoning his vehicle, and collecting items from a highway crash scene involving a rolled over tractor trailer.

At 5:22 a.m., the wrong-way detection system alerted Emergency Dispatchers from Troop H – Hartford to a vehicle entering the I-84 Westbound Exit 42 off-ramp in the wrong direction.

Surveillance showed the vehicle reversing back up the ramp. The operator exited the car and was next seen approaching an unrelated crash scene nearby.

On camera, the man was observed walking onto the highway and picking up scattered items that had spilled from a rolled over tractor trailer unit.

Troopers were dispatched immediately. They located the suspect vehicle after it had left the scene. The operator was identified as Marcus King, born September 16, 1973, of Andover. Upon contact, King was found in possession of several items belonging to the overturned tractor trailer.

King was arrested on-site without incident and transported to Troop H for processing.

Authorities charged him with three violations: C.G.S. 14-237 – Driving the Wrong Way on a Limited Access Highway, C.G.S. 53-182 – Negligent Pedestrian on a Highway, and C.G.S. 53a-125 – Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

According to State Police, “King was in possession of several items from the rolled over tractor trailer which did not belong to him.”

He was released on a $10,000 bond. King is scheduled to appear at Hartford Superior Court on April 30, 2025.

No injuries were reported in connection with King’s actions. The condition of the tractor trailer operator involved in the rollover was not disclosed.

The investigation remains open. Further updates are expected from Connecticut State Police Troop H.
