ENFIELD, CT — An early-morning Enfield crash on Interstate 91 South sent an 18-year-old woman to Hartford Hospital after she lost control of her Jeep Grand Cherokee and careened over a guardrail, state police said.

The incident occurred just before 3 a.m. near Exit 46 in Enfield. According to Connecticut State Police, the Windsor woman was driving on the wet highway when she veered into the right shoulder. Her vehicle struck a metal guardrail, collided with a wooden sound barrier, and ultimately came to rest atop the guardrail.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find the driver outside of her vehicle. She was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation. Police have not disclosed the extent of her injuries but confirmed that she was issued a verbal warning for failure to maintain her lane.
