Brooklyn, CT – A car crash into the Brooklyn Town Hall on Monday evening left one person injured and caused significant alarm in the quiet northeastern Connecticut town.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m., when a vehicle veered off the road and struck the lower level of the historic municipal building. First responders, including the East Brooklyn Fire Department, arrived swiftly on the scene. Officials confirmed that the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Images from the site reveal the car partially embedded in the building, raising immediate concerns about structural damage. However, Brooklyn First Selectman Austin Tanner reassured the public that the Town Hall remains structurally sound after a preliminary inspection.

“We are grateful that the situation wasn’t worse” … “We are working to ensure the safety and integrity of the building while supporting those affected.”

Brooklyn First Selectman Austin Tanner said.

While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, local law enforcement has indicated that no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident. Authorities are assessing whether factors such as speed, weather, or mechanical failure played a role.

The Brooklyn Town Hall is a vital hub for municipal operations and community events, making its safety and accessibility a priority. Officials have stated that services at the Town Hall will continue as scheduled.

Residents expressed both relief and concern in the aftermath. “It’s shocking to see something like this happen so close to home” … “Thankfully, no one else was injured.”

said Sharon Miller, a lifelong Brooklyn resident.

As the investigation progresses, updates will be shared with the community to ensure transparency and address any emerging safety concerns.
