Hartford, CT – UConn freshman Liam McNeeley continues to etch his name into the Huskies’ history books, earning his fifth BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award this season, the league announced Monday, Feb. 17.

The 6-foot-7 standout delivered a record-setting performance in UConn’s win at No. 24 Creighton on Tuesday, Feb. 11, exploding for 38 points and 10 rebounds—the highest single-game scoring output by a UConn freshman since 1973 and the most ever by a Husky rookie in a BIG EAST game.

McNeeley’s performance also marked the highest-scoring game for any UConn player in five years.

McNeeley followed up with 11 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s matchup at Seton Hall, narrowly missing his third straight double-double.

Since returning from an eight-game injury absence, he has been dominant, averaging 22.3 points and 10.3 rebounds over three games, raising his season average to a team-best 15.1 points per game.

The freshman sharpshooter is also proving efficient, hitting 37.5% from deep and 85.0% from the free-throw line, while adding 6.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

McNeeley and the No. X-ranked Huskies return to action Tuesday night, Feb. 18, hosting Villanova at the XL Center, as the freshman phenom looks to build on his already stellar debut season.
