Connecticut lawmakers to hold public hearing on education budget

Connecticut lawmakers will hold a public hearing on Feb. 20 to discuss the FY 2024-2025 education budget, inviting community input.

Hartford, CT – Connecticut lawmakers will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 3:00 p.m. to discuss the Governor’s proposed FY 2024-2025 budget for elementary and secondary education agencies.

The hearing is hosted by the Appropriations Committee and will take place in Room 2C of the Legislative Office Building (LOB) and will also be accessible via Zoom.

With education funding at the center of legislative discussions, the hearing provides an opportunity for public input on budget allocations that will impact classroom resources, teacher staffing, student services, and school infrastructure across the state.

Lawmakers are expected to weigh community concerns as they determine funding priorities for public schools.

Participation process and deadlines

Public registration to speak closes on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 3:00 p.m. The speaker list will be randomized and posted on the Appropriations Committee website by 6:00 p.m. on the same day.

Written testimony can be submitted online via the Appropriations Committee website for those unable to attend.

Dates:

  • Registration Deadline: Wednesday, Feb. 19, by 3:00 p.m.
  • Public Hearing: Thursday, Feb. 20, at 3:00 p.m. (LOB Room 2C & Zoom)
  • Written Testimony Submission: Via the Appropriations Committee website

With education at the forefront of the state’s policy agenda, community participation is expected to play a significant role in shaping funding decisions.
