BROOKFIELD, CT — A man has been arrested in connection with a deadly boating incident that claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman on Candlewood Lake last May, authorities said.
Environmental Conservation Police officers said they received a report of an unresponsive woman at Brookfield Grove on Candlewood Lake in Brookfield on May 29, 2024.
The woman, identified as Roselyn Blanco of Danbury, had been pulled from the water and was initially reported to have been a passenger on a boat tied to the dock.
Investigators later determined Blanco had injuries consistent with a propeller strike. She was transported to a hospital where she later died of her injuries, according to officials.
Following an extensive investigation, EnCon police said they developed probable cause to make an arrest.
Authorities said Robert McDonald, 23, of New York, was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment and reckless operation of a vessel.
McDonald was released on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 15.
