STORRS, CT — The federal government has restored visas for 13 international students at the University of Connecticut, the university said Monday.
According to UConn, twelve current students and one recent graduate completing postgraduate training had recently seen their Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) records terminated.
University officials said the terminations threatened to cause serious disruptions to their academic careers.
UConn said that, absent any unexpected changes, the 13 students should now be able to resume their studies and work without interruption.
The university did not specify the cause of the SEVIS terminations but said restoring the records would allow the students to maintain their legal immigration status.
