Hartford, CT – The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has proposed changes to CTtransit bus service, including new routes, expanded service hours, increased frequencies, route modifications, and discontinuations.

The adjustments aim to streamline operations and enhance customer service across the New Haven and Hartford local systems, Hartford Express, and CTfastrak.

CTDOT will host two in-person open houses to discuss the proposals, allowing the public to review changes, ask questions, and provide feedback.

The first session will take place at Kennedy Mitchell Hall of Records in New Haven on March 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The second will be held at the Park Street Library at the Lyric in Hartford on March 19 during the same hours.

“The bipartisan budget adopted earlier last year included a funding increase for CTtransit bus service in Connecticut,” CTDOT officials stated.

If inclement weather forces cancellations, meetings will be rescheduled exactly one week later—New Haven’s session on March 25 and Hartford’s on March 26.

Updates will be posted on the project webpage.

CTDOT and CTtransit staff will be present at the open houses to provide information and accept public comments on the proposed changes and accompanying equity analysis.

The public comment period will remain open until April 3, 2025.

Those unable to attend can request a mailed copy of the proposed changes and equity analysis by emailing dot.proposedtransitchanges@ct.gov or leaving a voicemail at (860) 594-3612.

Requests should be made at least one week in advance.

Public libraries in Hartford and New Haven will also house copies of the equity analysis and accept written comments.

CTDOT has assured accessibility at the meeting venues and will provide language assistance upon request. Residents requiring translation services should call (860) 594-2109 at least five business days before the meeting.

Comments may be submitted via email, voicemail, or US mail. Letters should be addressed to “COMMENT ON PROPOSED SERVICE CHANGES,” Bureau of Public Transportation, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, CT 06131-7546.

For more details, residents can contact CTDOT at dot.proposedtransitchanges@ct.gov or call (860) 594-3612. No rail service changes have been proposed at this time.
