HARTFORD, CT — Four men were shot in Hartford Thursday night after what police believe was an ambush stemming from a dice game dispute, according to investigators.
Officers responded to 161 Nelson Street at 9:53 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert indicated gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers found two men with gunshot wounds—one responsive and the other unresponsive.
Both were transported to a nearby hospital. While police were still processing the scene, they were alerted that two more gunshot victims had arrived at the hospital separately. All four were later listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Hartford police believe the shooting followed a conflict during a dice game and that the victims were ambushed. The exact circumstances remain under investigation.
Reported seeing three individuals loaded into ambulances at the scene. A brief altercation also broke out nearby during the police response.
The Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions of the Hartford Police Department are leading the investigation.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
