Storrs, CT — UConn sophomore outfielder Kaitlyn Breslin has been named National Player of the Week by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and D1 Softball, becoming the first player in program history to earn the top national recognition. She was also selected to the Softball America Stars of the Week list.
Breslin’s record-setting performance came this past weekend during UConn’s series at Creighton, where she posted a .750 batting average, going 6-for-8 with five home runs, 11 RBI, and eight runs scored.
In Game 2, Breslin etched her name into NCAA history, blasting four home runs in a single game — tying a rare NCAA single-game record.
She added a career-high seven RBI, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning that capped off her fourth straight home run.
She also drew four walks, maintained a 2.625 slugging percentage, and was flawless in the outfield with six putouts and a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Breslin has now been named BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
