Keely Hodgkinson Wins Paris Olympic Gold Medal in Women’s 800m Final with 1:56.72

Keely Hodgkinson of Great Britain claimed victory in the Women’s 800m final with an impressive time of 1:56.72 at the athletics championship held today, August 5, 2024. This triumph marks a significant achievement for Hodgkinson, who continues to establish herself as one of the leading athletes in middle-distance running.

Trailing closely behind, Tigist Duguma of Ethiopia secured the silver medal with a time of 1:57.15, showcasing her formidable speed and endurance. Mary Moraa from Kenya completed the podium, earning the bronze medal with a time of 1:57.42. The competition was fierce, with all top three athletes finishing within a second of each other.

Shafiqua Maloney of St. Vincent and the Grenadines put in a strong performance, finishing fourth with a time of 1:57.66. French athlete Renelle Lamote clocked in at 1:58.19, earning her the fifth position. Ethiopia’s Werkwuha Mesele followed closely, securing sixth place with a time of 1:58.28.

Representing the United States, Juliette Whittaker finished seventh, crossing the line at 1:58.50. South African athlete Prudence Sekgodiso rounded out the final, finishing eighth with a time of 1:58.79.

This event highlights the exceptional talent and competitive spirit in women’s middle-distance running, with athletes from diverse backgrounds demonstrating remarkable performances.

The results underscore Hodgkinson’s growing prominence in the athletics world and her potential for future successes on the international stage.
