BRIDGEPORT, CT — Jahaz Langston, also known as “Haz,” 25, of Bridgeport, has been sentenced to 188 months in federal prison for his role in violent gang activity as a member of the Original North End (O.N.E.), a street gang based in the Trumbull Gardens area of Bridgeport.

U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley imposed the sentence Friday in Bridgeport, also ordering three years of supervised release.

Langston pleaded guilty on September 13, 2023, to conspiring to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity. He has been in federal custody since his arrest on July 20, 2021.

Federal authorities said O.N.E. members, including Langston, were involved in narcotics trafficking, robberies, weapons violations, and targeted violence against rival gangs, including the East End, East Side, and PT Barnum gangs.

Investigators said Langston and co-defendant Amire Newsome conspired to murder rival gang members and were responsible for the March 7, 2021, shooting of the mother of two rivals as she drove on I-95. The woman was seriously injured.

According to court records, Langston used text messages and social media to coordinate criminal acts, including drug sales, firearms trafficking, vehicle thefts, and violent offenses with other O.N.E. associates.

Authorities confirmed that Langston’s conviction is part of a broader multi-agency investigation that has resulted in federal convictions for 47 individuals, solving eight murders and nearly 20 attempted murders in Bridgeport.

The investigation was led by the FBI’s Safe Streets and Violent Crimes Task Forces, with support from the ATF, DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Connecticut State Police, Bridgeport Police, and other local agencies.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Karen L. Peck, Jocelyn C. Kaoutzanis, Stephanie T. Levick, and Rahul Kale are prosecuting the case.

Amire Newsome pleaded guilty on August 16, 2023, and is awaiting sentencing.

Langston’s prosecution is part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Neighborhoods, Project Longevity, and the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) programs.
