Newington, CT – Chef’s Dog House, a well-known restaurant in the north end of town, will shut its doors for good on Friday, Feb. 28, after more than a decade of serving locals.
“We are sad to report that Chef’s Dog House will be closing this Friday (2/28),” the restaurant announced, confirming the closure.
The eatery built a reputation for its hot dogs, burgers, soups, and breakfast specials. Customers returned for the steady menu and unpretentious setting.
“The restaurant has been a staple in the north end of town for well over a decade,” the statement read.
The business changed ownership in recent years but continued to draw regulars. The shift did not shake its place in town.
“Although Chef’s has seen a change in ownership in recent years, it has still been a popular and regular stop for many.”
Lease negotiations collapsed, leaving no room for another arrangement.
“Lease negotiations were not able to be worked out,” the announcement said. “The owner has decided to move on to other endeavors and will not seek another location at this time.”
The restaurant, located at 337 Willard Avenue, has been a fixture in Newington’s food scene. With just days left, customers will soon say goodbye to a familiar stop that served them for years.
