Plainfield, CT – A 51-year-old man is in custody after police say he bludgeoned a 73-year-old woman with multiple objects, leaving her outside a home on Starkweather Road with severe head and facial wounds.
Officers arrived at the scene just after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
They found the woman with extensive injuries, bloodied and disoriented.
She told police the suspect had “beaten her head and face with multiple objects.”
Emergency responders rushed her to a hospital. Authorities did not release details about her condition.
Police arrested Brian Garrity at the scene.
He was charged with first-degree assault on an elderly person, first-degree unlawful restraint, first-degree reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.
He was held on a $250,000 bond and scheduled to appear in State of Connecticut Superior Court in Danielson on Monday, Feb. 24.
Officials did not reveal the suspect’s relationship to the victim.
Police have not said whether the attack was premeditated or if there was prior history of violence at the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
