HARTFORD, CT— Hartford firefighters safely rescued a small dog from the roof of a multi-story home near New Park Avenue on Sunday after the canine made a daring rooftop excursion.

The dog accessed the roof by squeezing through an open attic window, according to the Hartford Fire Department.

From there, it jumped onto the higher main roof of the two-and-a-half story residence. Fire crews arrived on scene and used a ladder truck to retrieve the animal.

Fire officials said the dog was not injured, did not fall, and was brought down unharmed. District Chief Mario Oquendo, Jr. remarked on the pup’s unexpected agility and climbing prowess following the successful rescue.

The incident drew attention from neighbors and passersby but was resolved quickly by the responding crew. The identity of the dog’s owner has not been released. The department confirmed that the animal did not require veterinary attention and was returned to safety.

Officials did not indicate whether any structural damage was caused or how long the dog was on the roof before being spotted.
