Hartford, CT – Two Hartford residents were arrested following a cocaine seizure after police intercepted a shipment containing approximately $600,000 worth of the drug, authorities announced.
The investigation began when detectives identified suspicious packages at a local shipping facility. Each package contained ten brick-shaped objects filled with cocaine and had been sent from Puerto Rico to an address on Harvard Street in Hartford.
After obtaining a search warrant, law enforcement officers replaced the drugs with a sham substance and conducted a controlled delivery to the residence. The recipient, identified as Karla Flores, 45, accepted the package while Christian Burgos-Rodriguez, 30, observed from his vehicle nearby.
Once the package was received, officers moved in and arrested both suspects. During the operation, authorities also discovered a two-year-old child in Flores’ care. A subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery of additional drug packaging materials and fentanyl, further escalating the severity of the case.
Both individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit the sale of a controlled substance and risk of injury to a minor. They are each being held on a $1,000,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court.
Authorities emphasized that the successful seizure was the result of coordinated efforts between local law enforcement and federal agencies. “This operation highlights our commitment to keeping dangerous drugs off our streets and ensuring the safety of our community,” said a police spokesperson.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have not ruled out additional arrests.
