KILLINGLY, CT — A structure fire broke out early Wednesday, April 9, at 43 Picabo Street in Killingly, displacing three adults and causing moderate damage to the residence, according to local officials.
The fire was reported at approximately 1:20 a.m., prompting dispatch of multiple emergency units.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the rear exterior of the home in flames, with the building already evacuated.
“Everybody got out safely, we got there pretty quick and made a quick hit on it,” said Dayville Fire Company Chief Michael Shabenas.
Crews from East Killingly, Atwood Hose, and East Putnam Fire Departments responded to the scene alongside KB Ambulance. Chief Shabenas said the fire was brought under control within about 30 minutes.
The American Red Cross is assisting three displaced adults. Town property records list the homeowners as Carlene, Jennifer, and Nicole Evans.
Chief Shabenas described the damage to the structure as moderate.
The Killingly Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze. No injuries were reported, and no further information has been released.
