Milford, CT – A 61-year-old Killingworth man suffered serious injuries early Saturday, Feb. 8, following a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 95 South near Milford, according to Connecticut state police.

Authorities are currently searching for the driver involved in the crash.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. near the Exit 34 entrance ramp. Police said the man was assisting a disabled tractor-trailer on the right shoulder of I-95 South in Milford when a white 2014 to 2017 Hyundai Genesis, traveling in the right lane, swerved into the shoulder and struck him.

Emergency services transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the I-95 hit-and-run.

The driver fled the scene, police said, and the vehicle is expected to have noticeable right front-end damage.

The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (CARS) is investigating the crash and has urged anyone with information to come forward.

The incident has added to growing concerns over hit-and-run accidents in Connecticut, particularly along major highways like I-95 and I-84.

Law enforcement officials continue to emphasize the importance of staying at the scene of a crash, as failure to do so can result in severe legal consequences.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact Trooper Jonathan Colby at 203-696-2500 or jonathan.colby@ct.gov.
