NORWALK, CT — A softball coach at Norwalk High School has been arrested following allegations of inappropriate conduct with students on school property.
Police said 70-year-old Cary Nadel, of Wilton, turned himself in Thursday after investigators obtained an arrest warrant stemming from an April 1 complaint.
He is charged with four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and one count of risk of injury to a minor.
Norwalk Public Schools confirmed that Nadel was placed on unpaid administrative leave from his part-time seasonal coaching role on April 1—before the start of the season. In a statement, the district noted that it treats personnel matters as confidential.
Police said the investigation remains active and are urging anyone with additional information to contact Special Victims Unit Detective English at 203-854-3043 or via email at Penglish@norwalkct.gov.
Nadel’s bond was set at $100,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
