Old Lyme, CT — A local woman accused of stealing jewelry from homes while working as a dog-sitter was taken into custody Wednesday, Feb. 26.

According to the Connecticut State Police, Shannon L. Crandall, 45, was arrested on two outstanding warrants following an investigation into theft allegations by Westbrook residents.

The reports are filed separately and detailed missing jewelry traced back to the periods when Crandall was inside the victims’ homes to care for their pets.

She faces one count of first-degree larceny (C.G.S. 53a-122) and one count of fourth-degree larceny (C.G.S. 53a-125). The state police did not disclose the estimated value of the stolen items.

Crandall was held on a combined court-ordered bond of $45,000. She remained in custody overnight and was scheduled for arraignment Thursday at Middletown Superior Court.
