THOMPSON, CT — Town officials have issued a warning after multiple reports of scam attempts related to the upcoming 6th Annual Maker Fair.

Thompson Recreation confirmed that individuals posing as event coordinators have attempted to collect vendor payments through unauthorized channels.

The department said they received numerous calls and emails from people trying to register, only to find out they had been contacted by imposters.

The fraudulent posts have circulated online, directing vendors to unofficial payment links or personal messages not affiliated with the town.

The town continues to remove scam posts and block suspicious accounts, but warned that some messages may still reach the public.

Residents and vendors are urged not to share payment or personal information with any source outside the official Thompson Recreation contact points.

Officials stressed that the only legitimate ways to register for the Maker Fair are through the Thompson Recreation Department. Vendors should call (860) 923-9440, email recreation@thompsonct.org, or register directly at www.thompsonrec.org.
