Madison, CT – A Madison man was arrested Wednesday night after a state trooper clocked him driving 100 mph in a 45 mph zone on Durham Road, authorities said.
According to Connecticut State Police Troop F – Westbrook, troopers were conducting motor vehicle enforcement at approximately 9:45 p.m. when they observed a black Dodge Dart traveling at an excessive speed.
A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver, Derek Nowak (DOB 11/18/2000) of Madison, was identified.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper noted that Nowak was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ordered out of the vehicle, complied, and was immediately placed under arrest.
Nowak was transported to Troop F for processing and charged with:
• Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)
• Failure to Wear a Seat Belt (C.G.S. 14-100a(c)(1))
He was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on March 28, 2025.
